Fandom: Lab Rats Character: Bree Davenport

Why: She's one of those characters that goes underrated and misunderstood all the time. She's a teenage girl, she lived in a basement for 15 years, she can run thousands of miles an hour, and she has two, now three brothers that also have superhuman abilities. And she sleeps in a glass tube. She learned what it meant to be a girl from movies, and that's how she presents her femininity, but on the inside she's a tomboy. She once breathed in toxic chemicals and still snuck out of the house. Bree is just...she's an awkward teenage girl who saves the world on a regular basis, and she stumbles through keeping both of those identities. I love her so much.

Fandom: JONAS/Jonas LA Character: Nick Lucas

Why: He's secretly the funny one. He's the coolest nerd you'll ever meet. He brought a book to a basketball game. He failed geometry his first try. Nick puts on a stoic outer shell, but at the end of the day he's literally sixteen years old. Given who his brothers are, he's always "the responsible one" until Kevin gets it together a little in season 2, but there are moments where he can't act like the adult. Also an underrated character tbh.

Fandom: Big Time Rush Character: Lucy Stone

Why: It's so hard to choose a favorite, but honestly Lucy deserves it. Her character was butchered by the writers after Jo came back, and that is only on the writers! But she's independent, headstrong, and never afraid to tell someone off and I love that about her. I might be a jendall girlie but NEVER badmouth Lucy Stone in my presence.

She thought you were... Arrogant at first. You walked around like you owned the place. Everyone watched you, stepping out of the way like it’s natural. She guessed it must've been nice. Expensive clothes, perfect posture. You're too polished. Too quiet. Kind of intimidating with that really serious face you had on almost every class, 24/7. She couldn't imagine you ever having a bad day (Even though you sort of looked like you did) or a real conversation.

But then, she saw... More. During Savannah, you had given her ear plugs when she had winced at the loud sounds in the house, you had trusted her and listened to her even when Tyler didn't in that motel room. You didn't understand her but trusted her even when she was a complete stranger.

She remembered your name, too. That shouldn’t have mattered, but it did. Ashlynn noticed how soft your eyes got when someone talked about their day. Or how you slowed down your steps when she or Logan was walking behind. You’re still too shiny, too well-put-together. But... That’s not all you are.

You sat next to her at lunch when everyone in the group was busy with extracurriculars and said she looked lonely. Ashlynn told you she wasn’t. You didn’t believe her, but didn’t push about it either. You ate your sandwich and asked if she liked old music. Ashlynn said something sarcastic and you laughed. Not just with your mouth but with your eyes too. She didn’t know she liked that look on you. And now she kept thinking about it. About you.

AIDEN:

At first Aiden pegged you as one of those types. Another polished rich kid with a perfect smile and a reputation built on image. Probably boring. Probably soft. You were kind of scary too with that face of yours. But you didn’t flinch when he pushed boundaries. You didn’t show off, but you didn’t back down either. That quiet confidence? It wasn’t fake. And that smile? Yeah, there was something real behind it. Sweet, even. Unexpected.

He then noticed the way you listened when people talked. Really listened. The way you helped someone without making a scene about it. The way your eyes softened when you thought no one was watching. You didn’t chase thrills like he did, but you weren’t afraid of them either.

LOGAN:

He noticed you before you even spoke. Everyone did. You carried yourself like you belonged. To everyone, including him, you were untouchable. Too cool, too pretty, too everything. The kind of person he'd admire from a distance and never speak to unless absolutely necessary. Not because you were mean, just because you were intimidating. Like getting too close might burn a little.

Logan assumed you’d be like everyone else in that crowd. Popular and politely indifferent. But then you had confronted Barron when he had been harassing him for his homework answers and asked how his project was going with actual interest.

That’s when things got worse. Or better. Because now he couldn’t just write you off as some unreachable stereotype. Now you were real. Kind. Thoughtful. Still intimidating, sure, but you had been... Nice. And genuine. He could get behind that.

You had helped patch him up after that phantom gave him a nasty scrape across his torso. Logan couldn't help but go pink when your hands gently traced along his torso to help him. You were so kind, and so... Attractive? You went from “intimidating and way out of my league” to “oh no, I like them” in the span of a few heartbeats. Every time you talked to him, even just a “hi” or a casual glance, he short-circuited a little. Practiced lines? Gone. Coolness? Nonexistent.

TAYLOR

To Taylor, you looked… Sharp. Put-together. Maybe a little cold. Like someone who had it all figured out and didn’t need anyone else to slow them down. It wasn’t like she thought you were mean. Just… Distant. The kind of person she wasn't sure she were allowed to talk to. Like saying the wrong thing would make you turn away.

The more time she spent with you, the more the edges around you softened. She noticed how you checked in with people without making a big deal of it, how you always seemed to know when someone needed a moment of peace, a distraction, a laugh.

You weren’t intimidating to her now, you were someone she admired, respected… Similar to her brother but not in a loud, overwhelming way. Just in that quiet, steady way. She liked that, she liked how powerful you were with your kindness.

Everything was a blur for the whole group. Shouting, blood. Tyler, pale and still. Taylor tried to hold it together. For him. For her mom. But her hands wouldn’t stop shaking, and her chest felt like it was caving in. Taylor never really had anyone really listen to her. Probably used to people bending over backwards just to stay in your orbit. It annoyed him, it got under his skin.

At first, Tyler didn’t want to admit it. It didn’t fit with the image he had in his head. The cool, untouchable, perfect you. The more he saw, the more it messed with his brain. You didn’t need to act all sweet and innocent. You didn’t need anyone’s validation. You just… were.

Maybe it was the way you smiled at people, how you actually listened to what others said. It drove him nuts, because now he didn’t know what to think. Maybe you weren’t so intimidating. Maybe you were… Kind. Sweet, even. That, he couldn’t wrap his head around. You, sweet?

Honestly he hated you. Every time he saw you do something sweet, something thoughtful, something that wasn’t for the benefit of your “perfect” image, it made his chest tighten. It didn’t help that Tyler found himself watching you more than they should. He'd catch himself staring at you when you weren’t looking, studying the way you smiled at people, the way your voice softened when you were being kind. And damn it, it was messing with him. You were everything he thought he didn’t want, and yet, suddenly, everything he wanted. You were sweet. And he couldn’t stop thinking about you.

BEN

At first, you seemed like the kind of person who didn’t need anyone else. The kind of person who could fill a room without saying a word, whose every move was sharp and composed. You were intimidating, like you lived in a world Ben wasn't invited to.

Of course, he had his suspicions based on stereotypes and his past. Were you a bully? He wasn't sure. But those thoughts soon evaporated when he saw you defending Logan from Barron. He had smiled to himself then. It was nice to see someone with as much power as you did at this school stand up to an asshole like him.

Still, there was a hesitation. He didn’t know how to break through your walls, how to reach you when he couldn’t even speak. It's never stopped him before, but Ben could only watch from afar, silently hoping you’d notice him. Maybe even see him the way he sort of saw you. Someone who understood how to exist in the quiet, the kind of person who could connect without saying a word.

The way you smiled, the way your eyes softened when you helped someone without hesitation, the way you seemed to see people, not just the surface. It was a strange kind of affection, Ben couldn’t find the words to explain it. But every time you walked past him, it felt like their heart fluttered in a way that music couldn’t capture. He didn’t know if you saw him the way he saw you. He didn’t know if you’d ever understand, if you’d ever see past the silence to what they truly felt. But he couldn’t help it. He liked you. He really liked you.

- Everyone knows his voice as the one for the intercom announcements for Starr Park. Like, “the park will be closing in ten minutes!” among other things, such as the tour guide recordings and help kiosk text-to-speech.

- When he’s bored he likes to watch park drama unfold like a soap opera (brawlywood movies have nothing on whatever the hell Colt has going on in his social life!)

- He rarely leaves the water-tower security HQ. It’s only when he really needs to (aka when Larry and Lawrie are unavailable for whatever reason).

- When he does, it’s almost never when he’s in one piece. That way if someone takes him out, he doesn’t die completely (basically i hc that if one part of him dies and the other doesn’t, he can still function, unlike in game where if u kill one side then both die. Thats more of a game balance thing imo)

- Despite seeing and knowing everything about everyone, and being put in probably the safest position for most of the day out of *every* brawler, he’s still paranoid as hell. Thats the reason he does all this. He can technically quit whenever he wants to, but a.) he has nowhere else to go, and b.) he’s made entirely for this and nothing else. I think paranoia is built into his mainframe, and that keeps him from considering the fact that he and the park really don’t have to spy on the park’s residents as much as they do.

- R-T is actually kinda scary in hindsight. He knows everything about everyone, and no one really knows what happens with that info— not even Larry and Lawrie. On the surface it’s for the sake of “law and order” of course, but who’s to really say?

[Side tangent: I know theres a popular HC/theory in the fandom that R-T is the overarching “big bad” of starr park/brawl stars. Personally, I don’t think he is; if there really is a mastermind behind bs i doubt they’d put themselves in the park as a brawler. Also, even tho R-T’s super morally gray (probably moreso than the rest of the cast) i feel like it’s more interesting for him to be, at most, a pawn for something greater.]

- Okay, the big one: I think he’s Rik. Well, half of him is. The gems absorbed Rik into the bottom tape-recorder part of him, while the top part is completely a inanimate CRT screen that came to life (yknow, like “i have no mouth and i must scream” or… the movie of that one Tom Cardy song…)

Rik himself isn’t fully conscious and doesn’t have full control over all of R-T, but every now and then he might have some influence over his personality.

UNDERTALE AU INFO DUMP!!

Fineline is an undertale au that has been living in me and Bea's (writer for fineline and other stuff who is my irl bestie but doesnt have tumblr cuz shes a nerd) brain for the past 4 years and now it’s finally getting life.

Basically found family bad sanses with a lot of self inserts, random ocs I make them interact with, and a healthy dose of shipping.

Their physical designs aren’t too far from accepted fanon but I think their personalities are quite different.

saw ur post about going incognito into spaces and stuff and i wanted to add my own thoughts about my experience of basically being stuck in places where proshippers r hated (not against wut ur saying! i definitely agree that theres no benefits and honestly its not that fun)

the fandom that im currently in is.. very toxic. someone got harassed to the point of having to delete their account bc they "supported" a proshipper (it was literally just them saying that u shouldnt harass this person just bc theyre proship-). a lot of my friends were very supportive of this person and agreed that ppl shouldnt be harassed over shit like that and many of them seem to have similar viewpoints as me (anti harassment and all that) but prefer to stay away from that stuff

the fandom is basically ran by antis. theres a small corner that some ppl have made where they talk about proship stuff freely (love those ppl so much theyre genuinely so nice) but overall its. not the best place to be if ur proship. which is interesting to me bc theres actually a shocking amount of proshippers that just... dont say anything. on my side blog ive had multiple ppl interact that i thought were anti (or at least just. not proship in some way) but would literally go and like all my posts about incest ships of the characters.

and sometimes i think about it and how theres actually a bunch of proshippers but we're so heavily harassed and silenced that we just- dont say anything. but the fandom is small and we cant exactly separate ourselves from it if we really like the show. and i feel especially bad for some of the bigger blogs that ppl love and adore bc i know wut would happen if somehow ppl found out and made some big post or wutever.

i dont pretend to be antiship but i dont outright say im proship unless i really trust that person

Although it can be full of snot-nosed superiority complexes, I do recommend using the AO3 Subreddit in order to find likeminded people for your fandom. The very vast majority of the AO3 Subreddit is proship or at least proship neutral. Antis are generally eviscerated on sight whenever they try to poke their nose into it.

If you have any other fandoms that you are active in or have friends within, there's also no harm in introducing them to your small fandom.

From what I understand the Marvel fandom did kind of the same thing you're describing with the Starker shippers, but they flourished and supported each other anyway.

I know its easy for me to simply say 'do it anyway' as someone who generally could not give a fuck about anyone's opinion of me, but honestly. Do it anyway. Form your little collective. Support each other. Learn how to write and draw and make GIFs so you feed your own portion of the fandom. You physically do not need those people, it just unfortunately takes a bit of effort and means potentially a bit less content until you start really generating your own.

Fandom spaces do not start out from nothing. Promote the shit out of your fandom. Draw people in. Comb through the proship tags and send asks to blogs like mine asking other proshippers to check out the source material.

People in small fandoms are easy to bully because you're so enclosed into this circle of the exact same people. They happen to be the majority in the room and they're weaponising it.

Force them into a bigger room.

The moment Velvet didn’t come to greet you when you stepped through the front door, you knew something was wrong. Usually, she’d at least give you a hug or a kiss. So you began to look for her.

You began looking through the house. It was spookily empty. Velvet wasn’t in her usual hang out spots. The living room was bare, as well as the kitchen. You silently cursed the house for being so big. You would ask Veneer where your girlfriend was, but seeing as his car was gone, you assumed that he wasn’t home.

Calling her name as you walked through the halls, you finally heard a mumbly, barely audible “What?” coming from the home theatre. You opened the door, and there she was. She was slumped on one of the leather chairs, focused on the movie that was playing on the big screen. And could tell she was not happy.

You took a seat next to her, and wrapped an arm around her. She showed no reaction. You decided to try and get her talking.

“Hey sweetie, whatcha watching?” You asked.

“Mean Girls.” She answered grumpily and unenthusiastically. You hummed, and turned your attention to the TV. It was the scene where The Plastics invite Cady to have lunch with them for the week. You knew most of this scene by heart, so to lighten the mood, you decided to quote a bit.

“On Wednesdays, we wear pink.” You said, at the same time as Karen.

After you did that, you saw Velvet crack a smile. Just barely, but it was definitely a smile. Hoping to cheer her up more, you pulled her closer to you, so that the two of you were cuddling. She let out a grunt of protest, but eventually gave in. She rested her head on your shoulder, and you silently congratulated yourself for making her a bit less upset.

Leaning your head down a bit, you placed a long, tender kiss to Velvet’s forehead. “I love you.”

Velvet hummed happily, and nuzzled her head into your neck. You smiled, and wrapped both arms around her, hugging her tight.

You don’t know why Velvet was grumpy, but you know that she didn’t like talking about it. So instead, you just comfort her, and help her mood get better. Watching one of her favorite movies with her was a good way to do it. So you keep this in mind for future reference.

Now, the two of you sat together, watching this iconic cinematic masterpiece. Velvet was happier, so you declared your mission complete.

o hi rika :3 im okayyy like kind of skittish i guess. nothing really goin on today. as for the lorax. i probably don't have much unique to say about it. i think i remember seeing the movie when it came out? i think i liked it? my memory is so bad. i was never really part of the big fandom hype around it but its fascinating.... everything about tumblr history is insane and captivating to me no one on here has ever been normal its awesome. i dont even mean that in a jaded ironic way i think its cool. we should bring back selfcest. i did have a weird amount of dr seuss video media in my childhood i remember watching the horton hears a who movie as well. and these like dvds i don't know how to describe, they had different segments animated in different ways, bridged together with live action cat in the hat bits with like puppets. its kind of a fever dream like memory in my mind i remember those cat puppets turning cranks on fucked up devices . i might look for those dvds later i think we still have them. AND there was a cat in the hat animated show i watched on like pbs kids at some point that was like educational.. i didnt even really think about how dr seuss pilled i was as a child until now thats weird. theres an alternate universe where my gateway drug into tumblr was lorax fandom instead of undertale fandom. thats scary...... stay safe out there

hihihihihihiiiiiiiii i was wondering if u had any advice for people trying to get into thejapanese side of fandom. im so monolingual its making me embarassed. also are there any terms/slang tobe aware of. i saw CP/R and started panicking LOL

KJFNJREHGRJ that's understandable. The term CP means something COMPLETELY DIFFERENT in JP fandom I assure you. Here are some slang tips!

CP: this stands for "coupling" and is the Japanese equiv to the word "slash" or "ship". For example, I will use uhh apollo/klavier from ace attorney as an example. You might see something like "CP オドキョ" (CP Odokyo - "klapollo" in Japanese. Apollo = odoroki, Klavier = kyouya). So if you see CP in a Japanese fandom context don't panic lol, culture shock whiplash

w: you may see multiple "w" like wwww or wwwwwww etc. This is the equiv to "lol" in Japanese with more "w" meaning something is funnier. The etymology behind this is it is short for the word 笑う(warau) which means to laugh. You may also see 草 (kusa) however, which by any standard definition is just the word for grass. However, thru a long game of word evolution, people started pointing out that when you type a lot of "w" it kind of looks like blades of grass! (wwwwww) so therefore the word for grass itself became slang to mean "lol".

88: like "w" you may see many 8's in a row like 888888 or 88888888 etc. This is supposed to mean "applause" or imitate a clapping sound, and is used to show you are applauding something. Usually used at the end of videos to signify a "this was awesome!" or "great art piece!" sort of thing. Etymology comes from the fact 8 in japanese is pronounced "hachi". So two 8s in a line would be pronounced "hachi hachi". This is very close to the onomatopoeic sound for clapping, which is "pachi pachi". Thus, 88(etc) = clapping.

いいね (ii ne): Including this just cuz you'll see it a LOT on Japanese content sharing sites. It is simply the equivalent to "like" as in a like button. So on Nico video for example (nico video is a Japanese video platform, sort of like Youtube), their like button is an いいね button. The phrase basically translates to "this is good!"

R-15: This isn't used AS MUCH nowadays from what I've seen, but it is still worth a mention. Sometimes content may be marked "R-15", which is basically synonymous with "R-18" (18 or older). I'm not too sure why the age discrepancy exists to be honest, and like I said this seems to be a much older thing as nowadays every adult-content piece of Japanese media I see is marked R-18 and not R-15, but just keep it in mind whenever you see R-15 that you should actually treat it like an R-18 warning.

グロ(guro)/ゲロ(gero): slang terms for specific types of content. I think it's important to recognize them either in case you want to look for this specific content or you want to look out for it and don't accidentally click on any page with it. "Guro" refers to gore content (or general disturbing/body horror stuff), 80% of the time drawn/animated gore, but it has been used to refer to real life gore content (snuff imagery, real or fake). "Gero" refers to content centered on vomit/vomiting (again, uuuusually drawn but this more so than guro i have seen refer to the real thing, be careful googling if that sort of thing makes u squeamish). These two tags are specifically used to tag content that these concepts (guro for gore, gero for vomit) are the main focus, and so typically are usually (not always, but a lot of the time) fetish tags. It is also important to note "guro" is a shortened word for "grotesque" so in the context outside of Japanese fandom works, the word can take on a less fetishy meaning of just something being "gross" or "scary" (again usually in reference to disturbing imagery).

エッチ(ecchi)/エロ(ero): Okay, some stuff related to R-18 content, cuz again, I think it's important to know for if you want to seek it out or if you want to be on the look out and stay away. Ecchi you may have heard before. If I'm not mistaken, here in the west, it's used to mean "softcore porn" or "sexually provocative material that isn't full-on sex." Like, you know, actin sexy but not showing nips or dick or whatever. But in Japanese it's a bit different. Ecchi, as used as a tag on artwork and such, just straight up refers to porn. Real or drawn, but obvs in fandom it's gonna be drawn. The word itself can be a "cutesy" word for sexy or refer to somebody who is lewd. You've heard of hentai of course, right? Well, in Japanese, this specific kind of hentai is spelled ヘンタイ or sometimes HENTAI. It is based off the word with the same pronunciation, 変態, which means "pervert" or "abnormal". Hentai, unlike ecchi, refers to strictly fictional porn of anime characters, sometimes people cosplaying as anime characters, but it's usually just drawn/animated even outside of a fandom context. There is very little distinction between hentai and ecchi when it comes to drawings specifically, as far as I can tell. I guess the big differences it that "hentai" is definitely the more popular term, and so is going to be used by west and east fandom equally, while "ecchi" is used mostly only in the east fandom. "Hentai" may also have "weirder" porn based on the fact "hentai" as a word can be "abnormal", but that's mostly me basing it off the word itself and I could be totally wrong. Altho the actual wiki page for hentai in Japanese uses a picture of lolicon so maybe I'm right lol. エロ(ero)/エロい(eroi) is short for "erotic" and is used kind of in the same way that we use the word "sexy", like "this is sexy" or "that's hot as fuck", with hot/sexy being replaced with "ero(i)" in Japanese sentences. Sometimes in slang it is spelled as "eloi" since r's and l's are interchangeable in Japanese.

On that note, other terms: ショタ(コン) (shota(con)) and ロリ(コン) (loli(con)) refer to sexual depictions of fictional underage characters ("loli" being female and "shota" being male). エロゲー (eroge) (sometimes just エロゲ) is short for "ero game" which is what it sounds like, basically a porn game. アダルトゲーム(adaruto gemu) is much of the same, it means "adult game". And ギャルゲー (gyaru ge) means "girl game/gal game", which is NOT "game meant for girls" but instead "game with sexy women".

Ok moving out of the Sex Zone

手描き(te kaki): This one is very important if you wanna find animations by people. The word itself means "hand-drawn", but the best way to describe what it means in terms of how it is used is...well, tbh, the best synonym I can think of is "animation meme". In the west, I'm sure you've seen, there are things called "animation memes" which are sort of animation trends multiple people do. It's kiiiiind of like that. Most "te kaki" are re-animating a popular trend (so just like an animation meme) or are re-animates of specific scenes or, much more popularly, music videos that were already animated in the first place (think music videos by Pinnochio-P or Nanawoakari) except the character is traced over and replaced with an OC or some anime guy. It can also refer to completely original animation that isn't based off a preexisting animation. Sometimes you may see 手書きトレス (te kaki toresu) which means "hand-drawn trace" which refers to specifically the second definition I listed, where the character in an animated music video is traced over with a new one. You may see also 手書きMAD (more on that later...) or 手書き and then the series name they're animating. For example, Danganronpa is ダンガンロンパ. So an animated Danganronpa video would be 手書きダンガンロンパ.

MAD: hooo boy. Ok. I am obsessed with MADs, specifically Death Note ones. A "MAD" is purely a spin or remix of an existing work, usually musical in nature. When you look up MADs it will usually be anime clips, or general other video clips, edited to a song. Think like a YouTube Poop Music Video (YTPMV). Look up "ronald mcdonald insanity" on Youtube. This is basically every westerner's first exposure to MADs. Unlike YTPMVs though, MADs can sometimes have other elements that are not purely musical, and that serve to tell a story/joke. Furthermore, while most MADs are humorous in intention, some aren't. And while 90% of MADs are musical-based, some of them are just shitposts. You may see the term 音MAD be used (oto MAD), which means basically the same thing, except 音 means "sound", so you'll up that 90% to 100% and get only music-based MADs. Some MAD communities have their own name, and that is something you need to find out yourself. For example, I know the Death Note MAD community calls their MAD videos "bakayaroid" (バカヤロイド) which is a play on the word "vocaloid" and one of Light's most meme'd lines where he yells "bakayarou!!" (which means "you idiot!" or "you bastard!")

歌ってみた(uttemita): idk if this counts as fandom but it's handy to know. In Japan, covers of songs are not called "covers". They are titled with 歌ってみた, which translates as "I tried to sing [song name]". So if you wanna find covers of a Japanese song you like, pop in the title and copy paste 歌ってみた after it.

In terms of shipping...

Unlike in the west where we don't really differentiate top/bottom dynamics, this is actually pretty important when it comes to tagging ships. Although, I am starting to see less of it. Regardless, it is handy to know. For example, Danganronpa's komahina (komaeda x hinata) would be 狛日 (koma hina). This, however, implies Komaeda is the dominant one in the relationship. If you wanted to find content where Hinata is the dominant one, you'd have to search 日狛 (hina koma). Again, I think it depends what fandom you're in for how important this distinction in. for example, I find it is very prominent in the danganronpa fandom, but not so much in Ace Attorney. Sometimes you will see something like 日狛日 (hina koma hina) or 狛日狛 (koma hina koma), for example, to imply there is no dom/sub dynamic.

A footnote: Japanese humor and expression is vastly different from English humor. This may seem obvious but I need to reiterate it because people sometimes say things they don't know are usually interpreted badly to Japanese artists. For example, acting "rabid" in somebody's replies, jokingly being mean, jokingly making threats, and stuff WE are used to as obvious jokes (stuff like "i think you should explode maybe" or "THIS IS MAKING ME INSANE") CAN EASILY BE SEEN AS HATE COMMENTS. Please please please if you want to compliment a Japanese artist, just say it like you mean it, like "this art is so good i love it!" or "this art was so emotional it made me cry, this is great!". Obviously not every JP artist is the same so some may know you're joking and some may be aware of western hyperbolic speech culture...or whatever you wanna call it. But the point is, I would err on the side of caution and just express you feelings genuinely and honestly.

Also, regardless of your stance on if xyz drawing is "morally good" (aka incest art lolisho art) and regardless of proship/anti stuff, just Don't bring it up with Japanese artists. The terms "proship" and "antiship" mean absolutely nothing over there. The terms "pedophilic art/problematic art/illegal ships" means nothing over there. I have personally seen Japanese artists get harassed off platforms because they had no clue what proship/antiship meant and refused to engage with bullshit shipping politics culture. You will likely just get blocked, or called an アメリカンお気持ちヤクザ (america okimochi yakuza), which means "American feelings yakuza". The definition of which is a person, typically an American (altho any kind of westerner) who weaponizes their feelings of dislike to attack others in a brutally yakuza-ish fashion. Which sums up my feelings on shipping discourse in general honestly. Don't be that dickhead foreigner forcing Japanese artists to answer to western politics. If somebody's art makes you upset/uncomfortable, block and move on.

EDIT: FORGOT TO ADD....another important word/term is "mob" モブ and no this does not refer to the little dude from mob psycho (usually). you may see detailless gray characters with the word モブ on their face or such like. This basically means "NPC" or "stranger", and is just used as a placeholder for a civilian, otherwise unnamed person/people.
